Bill Callahan's sophomore solo album is probably his best. On Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle, the singer/songwriter brings in his fantastic baritone vocals to some desolate, often beautiful and honest tracks with delicate (but varied) instrumentals and some amazing sound textures that run deep into the album's many facets. The lyrics contain some simple but cryptic metaphors aligned with personal narratives that create a whole panoramic view through each and every story that Callahan tells.
