I had to make an account after reading most of the forum from the beginning. Man this laptop looks great.

Thanks everyone for your hard work. Jack Harvest you have an amazing website. I am a full time student. I rarely game but my main use for a laptop is heavy microsoft office use and web browsing.

Will this be a good laptop for this or will it be too slow? I have also been eyeing the Acer Aspire One 722 which comes with a similar APU its the C50.

Do you think it is better or not? Thanks again m_ubby.

Do you think it is better or not? Thanks again m_ubby. Click to expand. No, don't get anything with the C50. That's only a single core APU. Not worth the 50 dollar price break. With all the latest ATI/ADOBE FLASH and using FF 5 I can stream 1080P flash videos.

Stanag 1008 Edition 9 Headphones. It has a strong GPU but the CPU is a bit weak. The dm1 is a pretty snappy machine with web browsing but some pages load much slower then my HDX. I think these pages are the poorly coded ones that require higher CPU cycles and the dm1 comes up short sometimes. The Achilles heal as I have stated before is Netflix silverlight HD. Silverlight does not use graphic acceleration but rather pure CPU horsepower. The dm1 fails miserably with netflix HD (not the regular SD netflix).

MS says silverlight 5 will use gpu acceleration so time will tell if that ever passes and is used with netflix. The other problem is no dual channel memory. My suggestion is get the 2 gig version, and toss it out and use one 4 gig stick.

This might help speed it up a tad. I'm about ready to try this myself. But I'll have to dump both the 2 gig and 1 gig stick out.

What a waste to improve performance. I used to recommend the dm1 all the time but no more. I work in one city with my HDX and travel home to the dm1. My HDX is so much snappier with web browsing. This is no replacement for fast processing power and raw cpu power. I just set up a base HP G6T for a friend (15' model) with base P6200 CPU (slower version of the i3 processor) and that system was noticably snappier for web browsing. I'm never going to buy AMD again. Gem Wk3 Operating Disk.

Unless you like to occasionally game on a small system like the dm1, I see no reason to buy it. For overall web browsing experience, office etc. Get a HP G4T (14') with the HD intel graphics and i3 processor. I guarantee it will be snappier on the web. I currently use my Dm1 connected to a 25' HP monitor and I'm getting a bit frustrated with the web performance compared to my 2 year old HDX. I have tweaked it all I can.

Its only going to get so fast and there is no way to overclock the dm1. I'm looking for a small desktop box with a i3 or i5 etc. With intel HD graphics for my 25'. I want that to snap like my HDX. I will then only use my dm1 for portable uses and travel.
