Comcast Internet Drivers Windows 7
Brand new Lenovo e530c laptop as of Xmas. Will not connect out of box to home network wirelessly. I'm using a Comcast Arris TG862 wireless gateway/modem.
Some factors for troubleshooting: - Lenovo laptop finds my network SSID fine, says its connected to it with excellent strength, but above that it says unknown network/ no internet access. Fails to identify network under any circumstance. - Laptop will connect to internet immediately when hardwired on home network. - 5-6 other devices connect to home network both hard wired and wirelessly without issue. - Lenovo laptop connects to every other wireless network i've tried without issue (work, parents house, etc.) - Did hard reset on gateway, same result; - Tried default SSID and password, same result - Replaced gateway with new one, same result. (All other devices connected without issue) - Tried ipconfig release & renew; tried winsock reset and had same result in both cases.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I feel like ive eliminated both pieces of equipment as th problem since everything else at home can connect just fine, and the laptop that won't connect doesnt have any issues anywhere else. Thanks for the suggestions in advance.
From Windows, access Control Panel >Network and Internet >Network and Sharing >Manage Wireless Networks. If you see your wireless. Network and password. To find out why your SSID stopped broadcasting, check to make sure broadcasting was not inadvertently disabled in the router's software.
Hi, circa8773 If you navigate to Control Panel >Network and Sharing Center, you should see an image that has three parts: Your computer, the network, and the Internet. Is there a red X between the network and the Internet on your machine? If there is, you can click on that X and Windows will try to diagnose and fix the issue. It may not work as a fix, but it's important to know what the issue is exactly with your machine. I would also make sure that everything (BIOS, wireless drivers, etc.) are fully up to date. All of which can be found Best of luck, and let me know how it goes Adam.
Hi again, I looked at the Personal Systems Reference for your machine and saw that your computer came shipped with a trial of Norton. Anti-virus software can sometimes cause connectivity issues. Singer Manual here.
If this is still on your computer, I would recommend trying to disable it momentarily to see if that changes the issue at all. But if you wish to use it, make sure to enable it again following the test. Also, have you tried booting the machine into Safe Mode with Networking to see if that helps the issue?
